Short version: a race is recorded on your phone. It only leaves the phone if you invite a crew, and then only the parts your crew needs to see. The website stores your email address if you ask to be told when the app launches, and nothing else.

The waitlist
If you enter your name and email on this site, we store both for one purpose: to tell you when NextYard is available. Legal basis is your consent, Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR. You can withdraw it at any time through the unsubscribe link in any email we send, or by writing to the address above. Withdrawing does not affect what happened before.
The list is held by MailerLite, operated by UAB "MailerLite", Paupio g. 46, Vilnius, Lithuania, acting as our processor inside the EU. We delete your address once the launch email has gone out, unless you have asked to keep hearing from us.
This website
The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages, operated by Cloudflare, Inc. Serving a page requires your IP address and browser details to be processed, and Cloudflare keeps those for a short time to run the service and defend against attacks. Legal basis is our legitimate interest in a site that works and stays up, Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.
There are no cookies, no analytics, no tracking pixels and no advertising on this site. The typeface is served from this domain, so nothing is requested from a third party while you read this.
The app
NextYard has no account and no login. You do not give us your name to use it.
Stays on your phone
- Your location while a race is recording, including the track, distance, pace and elevation. The app needs background location so the loop keeps recording with the screen off.
- Loop times, rests, notes, nutrition entries and the race plan.
- Photos you add to a race.
None of this is uploaded unless you share a race with a crew. Deleting a race in the app deletes it from the phone. Deleting the app takes all of it with it.
Leaves your phone only with a crew
If you invite a crew or spectators, the following is sent to our server so their phones can show it: the race name and settings, your current loop, loop times, distance, pace, time bank, the plan, and the messages exchanged between you and your crew. Your detailed GPS track is not uploaded.
The server runs on Supabase, operated by Supabase, Inc., in an EU region. Legal basis is performance of the service you asked for, Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR. The data is removed once the race is finished and archived.
Push notifications for crew messages go through Apple Push Notification service, operated by Apple Inc. A device token is stored for the duration of the race so a message can reach the right phone.
What we never do
- No advertising, and no sale or sharing of your data with advertisers.
- No analytics SDK, no fingerprinting, no profile building.
- No reading of your contacts, your photo library beyond the pictures you pick, or your health data.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask us for access to your data, correction, deletion, restriction of processing, a portable copy, and you can object to processing based on legitimate interest. Write to hello@nextyard.app and you get an answer within a month.
If you think we are handling your data wrongly, you can complain to the Austrian data protection authority, Österreichische Datenschutzbehörde, Barichgasse 40-42, 1030 Vienna, dsb.gv.at.
